Edward Garten, EdD

Dr. Ed Garten is Dean Emeritus and Professor at the University of Dayton and a faculty member with the Richard C. Riley College of Education & Leadership at Walden University.  His 35 year career in education has included public school teaching, university administration, and extensive consulting with both public and private education.  He has published extensively in several areas of higher education including distance and online learning, quality assurance and accreditation processes, and library and information science.  For nearly two decades he served as Dean of Libraries and Information Technologies at the University of Dayton. Principal of Garten Associates LLC, Ed has consulted with over 100 schools, colleges and universities, and corporations in the areas of strategic planning, quality assurance, and academic facilities development. He and his wife live in a suburb of Dayton where they are active in community affairs, inter-religious dialogue, and an array of other volunteer activities.
