PhD, Duke UniversityDr. Scott is the Provost of Texas A&M University, Commerce, TX. Previously, she was Deputy Commissioner for Academic & Student Affairs for the Montana University System. Dr. Scott was Vice President for Academic and International Programs with the American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU). She held the position of Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of Faculties from 1986-1990 at Wichita State University and was Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, and an Associate Professor of French at the State University of New York College at Potsdam from 1984-86. From 1971 to 1984, Dr. Scott served on the faculty and administration of the University of Wyoming where she was Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs and Associate Professor of French. From 1966 to 1971, Dr. Scott taught French language and literature courses at Duke University, Madison College in Virginia, and Patrick Henry College of the University of Virginia.
Dr. Scott has extensive experience in program and policy analysis, design and implementation; faculty and student recruiting, retention, diversity; budgeting, strategic planning, enrollment management; program review, accreditation, assessment; distance learning; academic support (library, computing, telecommunications, and research). She has chaired program evaluation teams for The American Council on Education's (ACE) Military Installation Voluntary Education Reviews and for its Educational Credit by Examination Program. She is a Trustee of Jones International University. She received the B.A. in French and English, with honors, from the University of Connecticut in 1964; the M.A. in French from the University of Virginia in 1966; and the Ph.D. in Romance Languages from Duke University in 1973. Her honors include Phi Beta Kappa, Phi Kappa Phi, Phi Sigma Iota, and Mountain Plains Adult Education Association Commendation for Service in 1982. She is a member of the Modern Language Association and the American Association of Teachers of French, and has been listed in Who's Who in America since 1986.
