Sue R. Raftery, PhD

Academic Chair, DBA

Dr. Raftery has served as the Chair of the DBA saince it's inception in 2007 and was instrumental in the development of the program.

Dr. Raftery is the principal of Raftery Associates (RA), a comprehensive learning/knowledge management services consulting firm. She has more than 20 years of experience in adult education and teaching, including positions at the University of Maryland University College, Auburn University, and Bowling Green State University, and has taught for JIU since 2003. Dr. Raftery also served as a senior-level executive in the training industry, primarily in the for-profit learning sector, in positions at DeVry, Inc., Edutrek, Inc., and Argosy Education Group, Inc., where she was responsible for setting up a variety of flexible training programs.

Dr. Raftery's publications include How to Learn Online (2000), and How To Train and Teach Online: Teaching the Learning Organization with Tomorrow’s Tools Today (1999). She has written extensively for business/trade journals focusing on the critical connection between education and the knowledge economy.
