PhD, State University of Utrecht, the NetherlandsDr. Wang is currently a professor in the Department of Computer Science & Technology, Peking University, Beijing, China, and serves as a consultant to the Chinese Association for Higher Education Management. He is on the board of directors of the China Post-Doctoral Science Foundation; is a member of the Board of Governors of APEC (The Asia and Pacific Economic Corporation) Education Foundation; and is on the board of directors of the Global Alliance for Transnational Education, or GATE. Dr. Wang was formerly the Deputy General Secretary and a member of the Academic Degree Committee under the State Council of China (ADCSC). In 1989, he was made the General Director of the ADCSC, and served in this capacity for more than seven years. He was the director of the "211 Project" office of the State Education Commission of China from 1992 to 1996; and was vice-president of Academic Affairs and Research at Shandong University, Jinan, Shandong, China, from 1985 to 1989.
In 1991, Dr. Wang was appointed to the board of trustees of the Asian Institute of Technology, Bangkok, Thailand, and remained on the board for six years. From 1996 to 1999, he served as a member of the Hong Kong Council for Academic Accreditation. He was elected as the Chairman of the Second and Third meetings of the Asia and Pacific Regional Convention on Recognition of Studies, Diplomas and Degrees in Higher Education (RCRSDDA) in Paris in 1992, and in Bangkok in 1994. Dr. Wang received his Ph.D. from the State University of Utrecht, the Netherlands.
