Our goal is to make the transfer process for Maricopa Community College students as simple and streamlined as possible. For your reference, we have outlined below some of the more frequently asked questions and answers. However, our Admissions Center is here to help you every step of the way. Should you have a question or concern that is not addressed here, please contact us and one of our admissions counselors will be happy to assist you.

  1. I have already graduated with an Associate's degree from one of the Maricopa Community Colleges. How will my credits transfer to JIU?

Maricopa graduates with a minimum GPA of 2.0 will be eligible to transfer up to 90 lower-division credits into the JIU bachelor degree program of their choice. These credits will be accepted as a block enabling Maricopa graduates to enter JIU as upper-division students. Students who have completed more than 90 lower-division Maricopa credits or whose lower-division credits/competencies are equivalent to designated upper-division credits/competencies can request that JIU evaluate such credits/competencies and, where appropriate, equivalent upper-division credit will be awarded.

  2. I have completed some coursework at one of the Maricopa Community Colleges, but I have not yet earned my associate’s degree. How will my credits transfer to JIU?

If students have completed equivalent General Education courses at one of the Maricopa Community Colleges, these courses will be accepted as a block toward satisfying the General Education requirements at JIU. If students are interested in transferring to JIU with less than associate’s degrees (and they have not completed the General Education requirements), JIU will review their completed courses on a course-by-course basis to determine their transferability.

  3. I have an Associate in Applied Science. Do I still qualify for transfer?

The AAS will transfer as any other associates degree.
