JIU Scholarships

In gratitude for your service to our country, JIU is proud to offer all military personnel (active, retired, honorably discharged and reserve) and their dependents a 20 percent tuition scholarship toward all new course registrations processed by December 31, 2008.

In addition, we offer a Military Undergraduate Scholarship with tuition set at $750 per three-credit course for all active, retired, honorarably discharged and reserve military personnel and their dependents.

Should one of our students be deployed while taking a JIU course or courses, he or she may either receive a full refund or register to retake the course at a later date, without incurring additional costs or fees. To redeem this scholarship, students need only present JIU with a copy of their military identification cards.

If you’d like to speak with an admissions counselor about how JIU can fit into your life and transform your career, please don’t hesitate to call 800.811.5663 (U.S. only) or internationally at +1.303.784.8247. You may also contact us via email at military@international.edu.

Military Tuition Assistance

In addition to our military scholarship benefits, tuition assistance is available to eligible U.S. service personnel who have been accepted to JIU. Depending on your circumstances, Military Tuition Assistance may reimburse you for tuition and fees, or pay JIU directly. Again, our academic counselors will work directly with you to minimize your out of pocket expenses.

From Uniform to Classroom

Your military experience often articulates nicely into the classroom. If you feel the calling to teach, JIU can make your dream a reality.

We support the Troops to Teachers Program as an accredited educational provider. Our exceptional School of Education offers a variety of graduate degree programs and licensure for armed forces to advance their careers as K-12 teachers. All of our master’s degrees in K-12 education and administration have been approved by the State of Colorado to prepare teachers and principals. Furthermore, Colorado has signed the National Association of State Directors of Teacher Education and Certification (NASDTEC) Interstate Agreement, which facilitates educators’ movement among states and jurisdictions. Troops to Teachers (TTT) was established in 1994 as a Department of Defense program to assist and encourage military personnel to transition to second careers as teachers. Click here for more information on this exciting program.

In addition, JIU also supports the Spouses to Teachers Program, giving spouses of our military members a quality education to transition their own careers into K-12 education.

Troops in Transition
